What Is the Recovery Time for an EMSculpt® Treatment?
No recovery time is needed after an EMSculpt® treatment. Patients can return to regular activities immediately.
How Long Does an EMSculpt® Treatment Take?
While all EMSculpt® treatment plans vary by patient, each treatment takes an average of 30 minutes.
What Is an EMSculpt® Treatment?
EMSculpt® is a cutting-edge body sculpting and contouring device in a class of its own. It is the first FDA-cleared energy device approved to burn fat and build muscle mass. EMSculpt® contracts muscles through focused electromagnetic energy, and in response, the muscle reconstructs itself, and fat cells in the area are eliminated.
Using high-intensity focused electromagnetic energy (HIFEM), EMSculpt® induces approximately 20,000 supramaximal muscle contractions in a single 30-minute session. After a series of twice-weekly treatments, the size and absolute number of muscle fibres increase significantly, resulting in improved contour and muscle tone.
Who Is an Ideal EMSculpt® Candidate?
Ideal candidates for EMSculpt® are those with an unwanted collection of abdominal fat, thigh fat, or a flatter, sagging buttocks area. Expectations should be realistic, as the non-invasive body shaping improvements are noticeable but still moderate.
Patients cannot have a cardiac or bladder pacemaker, and patients cannot have more than 2-3 cm of fat, or the increased muscle tone will be unnoticeable.
Benefits of EMSculpt®
Some of the benefits of EMSculpt® include:
- Increased muscle mass. Patients see an average of a 16–20% increase in muscle mass after treatment.
- Fast recovery. As the procedure is non-invasive and painless, patients can immediately resume regular activities, including high-impact sports and exercise.
- Safe and effective. Non-invasive body sculpting is a reliable method of achieving an ideal body contour that has been used for years with rarely any side effects.
- Ideal for everyone. Both men and women respond well to EMSculpt® procedures and results.
EMSculpt® Risks
The only downside of EMSculpt® is that it is not a fat reduction treatment — patients must already be at a weight and size they are comfortable with, simply with the desire to enhance muscle tone. Some patients may also experience slight redness and soreness in the treated areas.
EMSculpt® Recovery & Timeline
EMSculpt® has no downtime, so recovery begins immediately.
- Right after treatment — Some patients report seeing results immediately after treatment, with significant results seen two to four weeks after their last session, with continued improvement for several weeks following treatment.
- Long-lasting results — Results last indefinitely for fat loss, and the increase in muscle is long-lasting, typically over six months.
- After sessions — Patients can return to regular activity immediately after each session. Follow-up appointments are conducted every 4–5 days. Optimal results are seen two to four weeks after the last session, with continued improvement for several weeks following treatment.
- The following six months — The increase in muscle typically lasts six months or longer, depending on lifestyle.
