The tumescent liposuction procedure starts at $6,999, but the fee depends on the number of areas the fat is to be removed from. Additional zones on top of the first are discounted. In general, three to four zones are performed for $9,999.
Modern liposuction techniques that use energy-assisted devices have a rapid recovery period. It is not uncommon for patients to undergo tumescent liposuction in numerous zones and return to very light, sedentary activities the following day.
Depending on the thickness of fat being targeted, a tumescent liposuction procedure takes around 30-45 minutes per zone.
Tumescent liposuction is a cosmetic procedure used to remove fatty areas that have not responded to natural weight-loss methods. The fat removal surgery procedure is less painful and has a faster recovery time than traditional methods of liposuction.
The target area of fat is injected with local anesthesia. Then, the Toronto Plastic Surgeons use BodyTite™, an energy-assisted device that liquifies fat cells, to diminish bruising while achieving smooth contours. After a BodyTite treatment, the fat is aspirated and removed with very tiny suction cannulas, often 2-4 mm in diameter.
Patients can use tumescent liposuction to target fat pockets and improve body contours in areas including the face, neck, abdomen, and thighs.
Tumescent liposuction is a procedure that is perfect for anyone disheartened by pockets of fat that are unresponsive to diet and exercise. The candidate will want to address areas of fat that are disproportionate to the rest of the body.
They will ideally be in good physical and mental health, only slightly over their target weight, and have realistic expectations about the results the procedure can achieve.
The tumescent liposuction technique allows for higher-level contouring and accuracy.
Patients will incur less discomfort and have a shorter recovery period than traditional methods.
Shedding stubborn pockets of body fat can boost body image and confidence.
Results can be very long-lasting if the patient maintains a healthy lifestyle.

The areas of unwanted fat are marked out before the insertion of a tumescent solution of diluted local anesthesia that contains lidocaine, epinephrine, and a buffering medication. The solution is inserted into the target area of fat, causing the fatty layer to swell and blood vessels to shrink, giving your surgeon complete control of the treatment area.
Once swollen, small incisions are made through a small cannula instrument, which suctions away unwanted pockets of fat. No stitches are required as the incisions are small enough to heal naturally.
Before the procedure date, there are certain steps to follow which will shorten the recovery period and lessen the chance of any complications:
Our surgeons will provide additional guidelines during your initial consultation. For optimal results, the guidelines must be followed.
The tumescent liposuction recovery period is much shorter than traditional techniques, because of the minimal damage to surrounding tissue. Patients are encouraged to rest for the first couple of days following the procedure.
The treatment area will be dressed in a bandage which catches any of the drainage experienced in the 48 hours after surgery. An elastic dressing will be worn for the first week to aid the healing process.
Day 1-2: Light walking is encouraged in the days following surgery.
Day 2: Most of the swelling subsides.
Day 3: Return to work (unless it is physically strenuous).
Day 4-7: Exercise can be resumed.
Week 3-4: Full benefits can be seen.
Week 4-6: High-impact, strenuous activities (running, weight training) can be resumed.
The Toronto Plastic Surgeons have performed many tumescent liposuction procedures over the years and during this period we’ve answered many questions and queries from patients-to-be. During your initial consultation, you’ll be able to ask any of your personal questions.
Tumescent liposuction comes with far less discomfort than traditional liposuction methods. The anesthesia injected minimizes operative pain and, once this wears off, patients manage post-operative discomfort with pain medication.
The low-level discomfort means patients can return to work and regular activities much faster. In addition to comfort, the most important feature of BodyTite-assisted liposuction is soft tissue contraction of up to 30-60% following treatment.
Tumescent refers to the action of becoming swollen. In liposuction terms, anesthesia is injected into the target area to encourage swelling which helps reduce bleeding and makes contouring easier.
