Recovery Period Following Cellulaze?

It’s normal for patients to have some bruising in the treatment area following a Cellulaze procedure, but the recovery period is generally non-existent, with patients typically returning to a normal routine in 1 to 2 days.

How Long Does it Take to Perform Cellulaze?

A Cellulaze treatment is quite quick, lasting approximately 60 minutes per area.

What is Cellulaze?

Cellulite is “lumpy, bumpy,” “cottage cheese” skin. Cellulite is an aesthetic problem that affects over 80% of women. For some, the unwanted cellulite, which is most often prominent on the upper thigh and buttocks, causes troublesome confidence problems.

Cellulaze is a cellulite removal treatment that effectively removes cellulite without the need for surgery. The minimally-invasive treatment is a laser-based process that involves heating under the skin and dissolving the fibers that create the dimples, resulting in smoother-looking skin you can show off with confidence. CelluTite is the same procedure but involves using a radiofrequency rather than the internal laser probe. Dr. Bell performs both of these procedures and will often combine them.

Am I a Good Candidate for Cellulaze?

Cellulaze is an ideal procedure for patients with advanced cellulite, as well as dimples that have not responded to diet and exercise.

Candidates should have realistic expectations about the final results. In addition, patients should not be pregnant or have uncontrolled medical diseases. However, conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and skin disorders can be present and still lead to excellent Cellulaze results.

Cellulaze Risks & Complications

Like all procedures, Cellulaze comes with the risk of potential complications. The team at the Toronto Plastic Surgeons has been performing these procedures for many years and, as such, the risk of a significant complication is extremely low. Although Dr. Bell has not seen most of the risks listed below, these complications have been reported:

  • Bruising: Bruising is to be managed with compression garments and will subside in a couple of days.
  • Soreness: It’s normal for the target area to feel sore in the week that follows.
  • Swelling: Any swelling should subside after a couple of days.
  • Infection: Extremely rare but avoided by using a reputable, experienced surgeon. Preventative antibiotics are used.

How is a Cellulaze Procedure Performed?

To begin the Cellulaze procedure, the surgeon will mark the areas to be treated and administer a local anesthetic.

Several tiny incisions are made to allow a small cannula to be inserted under the skin’s surface.

The laser is then directed through the cannula to reach the target area. The laser or the RF heat releases the fibrous bands that cause the cellulite dimples, freeing them up and promoting the release of collagen, which thickens and firms the skin.

Preparing for a Cellulaze

Prior to your procedure, Dr. Bell and his team will review your medications and medical history. To ensure the fastest recovery and minimize the chance of complications, patients should stop taking anti-inflammatory drugs and smoking. Also, patients should limit alcohol consumption in the week leading up to the procedure.

What to Expect Post Cellulaze Surgery

Immediately after the treatment, it is normal for patients to experience some bruising and mild discomfort. Patients are sent home wearing a compression garment to ensure optimal recovery. Patients are also encouraged to spend a couple of days resting.

After a couple of days, patients are able to resume normal activities. Some immediate improvements may be visible, but the final results may take 3–6 months to materialize.

Cellulaze Recovery

Day 2: Bruising and discomfort will subside after a couple of days, and normal activities can be resumed.

Week 1-2: More strenuous activities can be resumed at the doctor’s discretion.

Month 3-6: Final results are more visible with a reduction in cellulite and improved smoothness.

Cellulaze FAQ

Is Getting a Cellulaze Painful?

No. Before the procedure begins, the target area is numbed with a local anesthetic, so there is very little discomfort associated with the process. The Freezing is performed with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) so the entire procedure is comfortable. The discomfort experienced during the procedure is light and tolerable.

How Many Treatments Are Needed Before I See Results?

For impressive results, just one single Cellulaze treatment is required. However, additional treatments may be necessary if cellulite reappears.

Is There Any Scarring?

Because the incisions made for Cellulaze are so small, often, no stitching is required. Moreover, the incision points are virtually undetectable with little to no scarring.
