Choosing from all the possible breast implant sizes can feel overwhelming, but not to worry! There are several concrete factors to consider when making this game-changing decision. The most important thing to keep in mind is that what’s right for one person may not be right for another.

Considerations such as your body type, current breast size and shape, the characteristics of your breast tissue and chest wall, and, of course, your desired breast size are all critical to achieving the look and feel you want.

Breast implants are measured in cubic centimetres or cc’s, and they come in a wide range of sizes, from roughly 80cc up to 800cc. The width of the base can also vary, fom 7.4cm to 17.2cm. If you’d like to get a better idea of what you want before scheduling a consultation, there are two easy ways to figure out what breast implant size is right for you from the comfort of your home!

The Rice Test

The rice test is the most popular DIY method for determining breast implant size. Simply take a pair of old pantyhose and cut off a 12 inch strip (not the foot part). Tie a little knot on the bottom end. Then, fill the pantyhose with a measured amount of uncooked rice. You can experiment with different amounts. Knot the top end. Do this for both bra cups. Remember: 1ml is equal to 1cc.

The Water Test

Similar to the rice test, the water test is also about trying different breasts on for size, as well as trying on different tops and dresses to get a better idea of how your new breasts would look. But rather than using pantyhose and rice, you use a plastic baggy and water. Use a measuring cup so you’re always keeping track of the size.

How do Professionals Determine with the Sizing Technique?

While at-home tests can begin to give you an idea of the breast implant size you want, the best way to determine the right size for you is to visit our office for a sizing session. In addition to offering a huge range of implant “sizers” which you can try on for size by placing in your bra, we also offer VECTRA computer imaging technology to show you what you will look like with certain implant sizes and shapes. Our surgeons will be there to answer any questions you may have, and you’re welcome to bring in a friend or partner to offer feedback as well. Try to bring a few bras in the breast implant sizes you’re considering so you have space for the sizers!

FAQ

What Is the Most Common Breast Implant Size?

Breast implants come in a very wide range of sizes, but the most common sizes used in breast augmentation procedures range from 200 to 850cc. Larger breast implants typically have a wider diameter as well as further projection, and the majority of implant types also offer a variety of profile shapes and base widths.

Which Type of Breast Implant Feels the Most Natural?

“Gummy bear” implants are very popular and have a reputation for achieving the most natural breast augmentations. These are silicone implants filled with a thick, highly cohesive gel filling, and designed to mimic the anatomy of real breasts.

While gummy bear silicone implants do offer many benefits, they are not the sole way to achieve a natural-looking breast augmentation. Saline water breast implants can also produce very beautiful natural-looking results in patients with enough natural breast tissue to provide coverage.

Some patients even prefer to undergo fat transfer breast augmentation, a procedure which takes fat from other areas of the body via lipo and injects it into the breasts. Throughout the course of your consultation, we will help you to determine the best option possible for achieving your goals!

How Many CCs Is a Full C Cup?

The general rule of thumb is that one breast cup size is equal to about 175cc. In other words, if you have an A-cup but wish to have a full C-cup you will want to consider trying breast implants of about 350cc.

Which Is Better: Round or Teardrop Implants?

As usual, the answer is dependent on your desired results. Those who desire increased fullness towards the upper region of their breasts, AKA the upper pole (for better cleavage), may do best to choose round-shaped breast implants, which also happen to be more tender to the touch due to their softer silicone consistency.

On the other hand, the firmer gel consistency of teardrop implants are a great choice if you want natural-looking and shapely breasts. While round and teardrop are the two main shapes, there are a wide variety of dimensions available for each implant type, so you can fully expect a custom approach to your breast augmentation!

How Much Does a Quality Boob Job Cost?

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, as of 2018 the average cost of a breast augmentation totalled up to $12,000–without taking into account the type of breast implants, anesthesia used, or facility costs.

Breast augmentations at Toronto Plastic Surgeons start from $7,999, depending on the type of breast implant selected, whether or not existing implants need to be removed, and whether or not the breast pocket must be corrected. While cohesive gel breast implants are more expensive, they are warrantied for life! Keep in mind that you’re making an investment in yourself, and that a top quality surgery performed by experienced, award-winning surgeons is worth every dollar.
